Sais-tu déjà le métier que tu aimerais faire plus tard? Pourquoi?

Question of the month

Yaël wrote to us that he would like to be a policeman but he doesn’t really know why yet.

Often children think about doing a particular job: baker, nurse, mechanic, engineer, teacher, pilot, sailor, firefighter, secretary…. It’s good to already have an idea.

Generally parents also have a job. Some children don’t know yet what their parents do. Knowing about jobs comes from overhearing conversations even if they don’t understand everything, or from heroes in a book or on TV.

Sometimes children can even change their mind and choose another job. Right?

A job will allow you to earn money to buy food with, to buy clothes, to travel, to have hobbies and later on, to raise your own children

But a job is more than that. In the past we didn’t choose our own job! We did the same thing that our parents did. Today thanks to school we can choose a job. At secondary school students even do work experience placements to get to grips with what a certain job is like.

Even some of the older students don’t know yet what job they will choose. They still have the time to study those subjects in which they do well and all of the different jobs that they might be good at.

Having a job provides a salary but it also helps other people. What would you do if there was a power cut but no one was an electrician?

Having a job also serves God by showing people how God is with us each day.

It’s God who gives you intelligence and the ability in whichever job is the best for you.

So the way to chose a job is to ask God!
