Do you often have dreams? Do you remember them? Which ones?

Question of the month

All children and adults dream. Often we don’t remember our dreams. Experts have noticed that our eyes move when we dream. We’re not aware of this of course!

Some dreams are pleasant, others, nightmares sometimes wake us up with fear, we may even cry out and sweat.

Yes, our brains carries on “working” at night when we sleep!

One dream that children often have is running to escape from someone or an animal but it runs quicker than we do and it’s about to catch us…and we wake up!

Another common dream is needing to go for a wee and we dream that we go to the toilet! Sometimes we wake up before we wet the bed!

We may also dream that we are flying with birds, looking at beautiful landscapes.

The images that we saw in a film or that we read in a book, a story or an event that scares us may provoke all kinds of dreams.

The Bible says, in Psalm 91, verse 5 “You will not fear the terrors of the night”. Also in Psalm 4 verse 8, “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

Jacob also had a dream in the desert. He came to a place where he spent the night for the sun had gone down. He took a rock for a pillow and he went to sleep. There he had a dream. And in it a ladder was leaning against the earth, and it’s top reached up to the heaven. And there were angels of God going up and down the ladder. And the Lord said, I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. The ground on which you sleep I will give to you and your descendants…behold, I am with you, I will keep you wherever you go and I will bring you back to this country, for I will never leave you and I will accomplish what I have said.

Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “surely, the Lord is in this place, and I didn’t know it”! (Genesis chapter 28).
