Do you have to wait for a child to ask questions before you talk to him/her about God?

Some parents don’t dare to talk about God with their children, thinking that they will influence them over something they must choose for themselves when they are older.

But what is it that makes them think like that?

Parents generally want their children to live happily in peace and harmony.

It is mainly the parents, the rest of the family, and the people around them that will help them make those right choices.

When both parents are committed Christians, they want to pass on the best things in their lives to their children, the love of God and His power shown in so many ways in the Bible and today in family life.

From a very early stage, you can sing songs that praise God while feeding your baby, or putting him/her to bed. You can also read Bible stories with pictures that are specially suited to their age group. It’s also good to take them to church gatherings. You can pray with them and for them.

The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, “I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.”(2 Timothy 1:5 NLTse).

Never forget that children are in God’s heart and he will reveal himself to them in one way or another, because God is love and he too wants the very best for them and you: eternal happiness.

Many young people and adults met Jesus early in life, and their lives have been changed for the better, if they chose to follow the Lord.

Dear parents, even if you wonder whether it is right to influence your children or not, you do it anyway by what you do and say, whatever that is. Your child will also be influenced by friends and things going on in society around them. Work, during their childhood and youth, as soon as possible, to allow them to make the best choice possible.

And remember that God is the perfect father. Samuel didn’t have a very good earthly father, but in 1 Samuel 2:26 it says, “Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew taller and grew in favour with the LORD and with the people.”(NLTse).
