Welcome everybody – both young and old.
In the last few weeks, I received news of the birth of three babies. Amazing! We were all babies at some time. You might even have seen photos of yourself being born.
Then we all grew up. From being very young, we got older…bit by bit!
At the age of six, we were old enough to go to primary school, but the ones who had been at school for a few years said we were the “little ones”.
At what point do we become OLD?
I know of a baby in God’s Word who grew up, little by little over many years. His name is Samuel. You can read about his journey in the Bible (in the book of 1 Samuel). From a very early age, he knew that God was the greatest, the All-Powerful, the one who had created heaven and earth. And then, he came to know God’s Word. After hearing from older people about God, one day he heard God speak to him personally!
And that’s how Samuel grew…with God’s Word. Samuel grew, God was pleased with him, and he was popular with the people around him. He never forgot the things God said to him.
In fact, Jesus, the son of God, came as a baby.
And you too, carry on growing, pleasing God and making yourself popular with the people around you. You will grow and grow…with God, and for God.
